WelcomeHub Regions Open in Second Life

Seven new WelcomeHub Regions opened to ordinary residents today. Motown and Helios Casino had been open earlier.

I spent my free time today exploring the new regions.

This Region is for Laser Tag players.  It is quartered with a blackened apocalyptic area for Blue Tag Team, a towering ruined building for the Yellow Tag Team, an abandoned factory for the Red Tag Team, and a container fortress for the Green Tag Team.

Laser Tag area.

Motown http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Motown/124/141/23 A very popular area featuring Motown music. While I was there I heard the Temptations, the Supremes, and the Isley Brothers.  motown

Cinema Region had an impressive two-story theater building currently showing Waarheid, a movie made in Second Life by resident writer Huckleberry Hax.

In the Sandbox Region http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WelcomeHubSandbox/159/117/23 someone was working on an SLB20 exhibit. The Sandbox is open to any resident, but the time return is 240 minutes, so it could get crowded if folks don't pick up after themselves.

The Social Casino, or Helios Casino, has nice exterior landscaping. Inside, no one was playing the machines, but some residents were riding their horses around.

Social gaming or racetrack?

WelcomeHubLindenHomes had a sign "Land and Linden Homes" but most of the information there was about Linden Homes. There were demos of the different Bellisserian home themes like those at BelliDemo.  The Palmerston Train Station there is on tracks that look to be going over the water to the Log Home Region of Bellisseria when they are completed.

WelcomeHubWelcome area was glitching, but looked to be similar to BelliHub area.

Some kind of technical problem here - I was logged off twice before I decided to visit somewhere else.

The shopping area had a variety of stores, and many of them had freebies for newcomers. The most useful freebie was a small car from 777Motors.

Practicing driving in Sandbox.

Two things I liked about this Region:

The carnival rides:

This time, the horse gets to be the rider, not the ridee.

The Little Chapel with a wedding chapel in the front, and a divorce-a-matic in the back.

"Eat, Drink, and be Married" Afterwards, you get free rings.

After the divorce, you get divorce certificates.

All in all, I think they did a great job and hope that this brings new people into Second Life.
