Home and Gardens Expo in Second Life is an annual event which helps raise money for Relay for Life. This years it runs from February 26th to March 20th.
Builders, creators, and non-profits have space to showcase their work. You can shop, take part in a hunt, watch entertainment, or explore many of the different areas.
It covers nine Regions - Hope 1 through Hope 9. The Expo web page gives a good overview of what is on each Region and has an index to help you find the major exhibitors (although just wandering around is also fun).
Hope 1 - The Main Stage, and the Decorating Contest Neighborhood.
The Decorating Contest is one of my favorite parts of the Expo. Builders furnish empty houses, and residents enter a raffle to decorate one of them. The contestants don't have much time - they have until March 4th to turn in a notecard request, and if they are accepted they can start decorating at noon on March 5th. Then they have about nine days before the voting starts on March 13th. The winner will be announced on March 20th.
The rules are that the decorators must choose three items that can be bought at the Expo (the rest is up to them to furnish) and the decorators have a prim limit of 350.
Some things that are different from last year - there is no display of "Future Linden Premium Homes", there are no gatcha machines, and the houses in the decorating contest are all different models*.
Recommended.
*My memory is that last time I attended the Expo the decorated houses were in pairs, which made it more interesting to see how different decorations could change the look and feel of a home.
