It is impossible to characterize a Second Life Continent in a few paragraphs, but here is an attempt to describe Jeogeot.
In a virtual reality where you can teleport from A to C without passing through B, you might think "location" is perhaps not that important. You can spend quite some time in SL without paying any attention to how one place is related to another. I was surprised, when I started to investigate Jeogeot, to find that some of my favorite places were actually in Jeogeot. I had just teleported to them without thinking about the 'there'.
I think it is important to learn about the Continents.
The 'Continent Locator' you can pick up at the Memory Bazaar in Ross is a good tool.
Map of Jeogeot, from Second Life Wiki
Brief history: The first regions of Jeogeot were built in December 2005, starting in the northern part. It was finished in 2008.
Jeogeot has been called The Korean Continent. I read in the SL Forum Archives, 9-29-2007 a post by Ava Glasgow where she says that the name "Jeogeot" (assigned by mapper Dyne Talamasca, is Korean for "That thing over there" and is pronounced juh-gut. I have tried putting several Jeogeot Region names into Google Translate and they seem to have come from different sources. "Moolamangcho", for example, is "undo" in Hindi. (You figure it out.)
I also read a post in the SL Forum explaining the name.
Originally Jeogeot was an isolated continent, but in 2019, when the Bellisserian Continent was created, it became possible to go from Jeogeot to Bellisseria and on to other continents.
Part of Wellington Road
The land: There are large stretches of terrain exhibiting waves or bumps. I do not know if this is how the land was originally made, or if it is a result of shifts over time. There are also several notable sinkholes. With the exception of the Pyri Peaks and the volcano, there are no notable mountains.
Population/buildings are concentrated along the roads and in areas with access to water. There appears to be a lot of abandoned land.
Transportation: You cannot circumnavigate Jeogeot in a ship. It is not only due to clogs of private owners building on water land, but the fact that some of the land is cut off right at the edge of the void ocean. (See Sinuiju Region for an example.)
There is an extensive road system, and you can drive from one end of the Continent to the other without having to use a teleport.
Both Yavapods and SLGI vehicles have regular routes.
The only train that I could find was the Zany Zen railroad, which connects several Regions.
There are many port facilities, particularly in the north.
There are several airports, and some new ones are being built now that it is possible to fly from Jeogeot, to the other continents.

Some Places to Visit:
ZEBRASIL INFOHUB:
You may have already visited here. The Ichelus Volcano is nearby, and Hotel Adriano, Michael Linden's home in SL, is off the coast.

PYRI FUNFAIR
There is a special box office in Pyri, which will give you a teleport map to the boat service that takes you to the island. From there it is an uphill walk to the Funfair itself. Never mind the rats, they are mainly harmless. If you want to, you can climb to the top of the mountain in South Forepaw. At 179 feet it is reported to be the highest mountain in Jeogeot. (Note: Flying is turned off in Jeogeot). The Funfair has several amusements. For a great finish, get a ticket for the Tunnel of Love from the dummy in the Ticket Booth. If by some chance your carriage goes off the track and you end up in the mines below, the good news is that there are a lot of places to explore, and lots of treasure to pick up. The bad news is that if you mis-step, you die and you get sent home.
SPACE STATION AT MOS AINSLEY
The doors are locked, so I use the "double click to teleport here" or "sit here" cheats to get inside. There are free space suits in the lockers by the front door.

There is a duplicate space station at MoonBase. Unfortunately, you are no longer able to rezz a shuttle in the launching pit at Mos Ainsely and take off. Apparently the folks on the Mainland were tired of being buzzed by errant spacecraft. (I know nothing about this.)
CHILBO
This is one of the neighborhoods in Second Life where like-minded folks have formed a community. Many residents here are dedicated to art and learning. The Expedition Central ground level building in the center of town has a teleport that will take you to their sky structure*, which is full of posters about Second Life locations. Some of the posters will just give you a teleport location, but most of them will give you a notecard with additional information. Unfortunately, the original founder, Cyrus Hush, is no longer with us. It is still an amazing collection and a testiment to its creator, Cyrus Hush. I got a lot of my starting material there.

ZANY ZEN RAILROAD
This is one of the small railroads in Second Life. You can catch it at several stations along the route - the train turns around at the end so you won't get lost.
|
Waiting at the station |
There is great attention to detail shown in the trains and in the depots.
Someone has suggested joining the Zany Zen Railroad line from Little Coneston to Red Hook in Bellisseria, probably by boat.
THE LORDSHORE BRIDGE
This is supposed to be one of the longest bridges in Second Life.

THE DONGYEONGIU TO SEORAKSAN UNDERWATER TUNNEL
|
One end of the tunnel - you drive into the water.
The walls of the tunnel are transparent, so you can watch the underwater scenary as you go along. --------
Some obscure history of Jeogeot - There is a Region called Nampo. It used to be the location of the First Church of Elvis; however, a sex club moved into the sky and caused massive lag for everyone. Residents on the ground formed The Nampo Liberation Front to combat the problem. Eventually the sex club moved to Zindra, but the SL Church of Elvis moved in the meantime.
Even better, visit Jeogeot. There is a lot more to see and experience there.
*It is not a skybox, it is a skycan.
5-3-2021 - There are excellent maps in the New Kadath Lighthouse Gallery showing some of the earliest depictions of Jeogeot and other continents.
