Second Life Events: Sci-Fi Con 16, Scoop -N- Score

Sci-Fi Con 16 is running from May 24th to June 4th. There are nine regions full of merchants and events raising funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease.

If you are used to RL Science Fiction Conventions you will find they are not the same in virtual reality.

There are no room parties, conflicting panel discussions, or pub crawls. On the other hand, you don't have to worry about getting there or finding a hotel room or crash pad, and there are

  • Movies
  • Role-Play
  • Dancing
  • Hunts
  • United Furry Wrestling
  • Punk Kart Racing
  • Cthulu Choreographing
  • And much more...

And the merchant exhibits are amazing!

Someone sent me a landmark and said "This is awesome, you've got to see this!"
This was the welcoming committee, stormtroopers and AT-AT's.

The Borot Avatar is from New Kowloon's Capsule Market.

Scoop - N- Score (I believe it was formerly called The Sludge Trudge) is not for everyone. It runs from May 1st to May 31st.

The Second Life Syndicate runs a series of hunts and events throughout the year, but this is my favorite. After the glamor of the Fantasy Faire, sometimes it is good to get down and dirty.

Although the prizes are nice, I especially like the scenes and objects you encounter as you slosh through the sewer labyrinth.  Recent surprises included items from [ContraptioN], and What's Lost Spirits.

Walton F. Wainright's "A good sea husband" from [ContraptioN]*
Avatar is Silas Merlin's 'Hunros Elfkin' from 2022.

*I upped the gamma in Firestorm's photo settings, and sharpened the image in Gimp, as the sewers were just too dark for me to get a proper photo.
