SL20B in Second Life - Corner of Geeky Curiosities

I am not a geek. I used to be, but progress swept past me. Still, I very much enjoyed Frionil Fang's "Corner of Geeky Curiosities".

Exhibit at SL20B. Exhibitor is using Synthwave Cranky Moon as EEP.

Exhibitor's description: "Getting real neon, shiny and weird with it. Small objects, effects, memes and scripted stuff from over the years, including a working virtual computer."

Exhibits included demonstrations & explanation of Mandelbrot fractals, virtual computers, music engines, megazones, and hyperbolic models..none of which I pretend to understand.

Non-Orientable Surfaces.  From left to right: Plasma real projectable plane, Vaporware in a Klein bottle, and Haunted moebius strip.

I felt a bit more familiar with the examples and explanations of non-orientable surfaces, having been subjected to möbius strips, Klein bottles, and Flatland in the distant past.

The exhibitor writes: "The Möbius strip isn't the only such surface, but it has the distinction of being the only one that can be realized properly in 3-dimensional space without crossing itself. Linden Lab still hasn't implemented a 4-dimensional viewer, but in the meantime we can take a look at some representations that are a bit easier to manufacture here thanks to virtual polygons not caring about self-intersection."

The official SL20B gift is a 'leaf energy cloud' for your avatar, but if you search the exhibit and click the item called "It's yours, my friend, but only if you have enough rupees. " you can also get a cartoon bomb.

If you want your own collection of virtual non-orientable surface items* they are for sale at the exhibitor's Marketplace store:

If you want a 'real' Klein bottle you can get a close approximation from Clifford Stoll at https://www.kleinbottle.com.

*Also for sale 'Dingus' based on Maxwell the loaf cat, and other interesting items.

Second Life: Japanese Shrines and Temples

At one time I wanted to do the Shikoku pilgrimage in Japan; however, that is no longer possible for me.  So, I was delighted to find that...
