Fantasy Faire 2023, The Fairelands Quest - The Magic of Dragons

The Fairelands Quest is something many of us look forward to all year. It is always put together very well. During the hunt you get to visit almost every region in the Faire.

You had the choice of buying a regular HUD, or a Deluxe HUD that included an avatar outfit designed just for the Quest. This year's outfits were made by Janire Coba of Belle Époque. The HUD cost is small in relation to the fun of the activity and the object rewards.

The Quest usually starts a few days after the Faire has started.  When the announcement was finally made for the hunt to begin, many rushed to speak to the Bard Queen. She told us how to start the Quest.

The first step was to find the magical bird Cyra.  He offered clues when you asked, and told you if you were in a Region where there was nothing to find.

Here I asked for help from a young dragon, and got a list of what he and the other dragons needed.
The HUD kept track of your finds.  When you had all the items you returned to the dragons.

--------------------------Some of the Quest Regions-------------------------------------

Glimmering Meadows:

Here Cyra and I are trying to find the right chest. Each shopping region had three chests, but only one had the item you needed.

Glimmering Meadows was marshland, but there were origami boats if you didn't want to get your paws wet.
When I wasn't hunting, I shopped by sailing into the stores.

Frostweald:

Spirits' Crossing:

Spirits' Crossing - I had a hard time finding the chests here. I think one of the clues was
"Find the precarious turret." Darn - all the turrets were precarious.

Sialdor:

Sialdor - a magical sky.

Flambois:

Flambois was the heart of the Children of Stories role play.

Isles of Aquarius:

The top shopping region rested on the water, and there were stairs leading down into the deep.

The Winding Valley:

A break in the hunt for a rest on the famous cow.

Opera:

The Shimmering Fen:

--------------------------------------------

Dingir:

Amazing!

The whole region was a work of art, but also somehow unsettling.

The giant figure was scaring me, so I tried to confront my fears by flying into the mouth of danger.

Dingir was sponsored by What's Lost Spirits (Whose motto is "We do weird"), and designed by Stabitha.

------------------------------------

Safe Haven:

Safe Haven's perimeter was sandy desert, in the center was a lush oasis full of life.

A crystal path in the oasis in Safe Haven.

--------------------------------------------------

When you had obtained all the ingredients you returned them to the Dragons.

After that the next task was to find the Veiled Path. I thought this was extremely well done - if you found the right place you got second sight to see clues that no one else could see. After you finished the Veiled path, you had to find the secret doorway and solve the final puzzle.

After that you entered the Quest Prize Room and got your piles of loot. Faire sponsors/merchants were very generous and it took me days to open everything.

My thanks to the hunt designers, organizers, and sponsors. You did a wonderful job!
