Yavanapods, Pod Riders

Pod waiting for a passenger at Basilisk Station

Yavascript pods, or Yavapods, have been travelling around Mainland since 2010, except for a brief period in 2020 when a clueless Linden suspended Yavana's account. They are a great way to sit back and enjoy a ride around the Mainland.

Although you can click on any pod going past to hitch a ride, a good place to start your journey is the Basilisk Pod Station. (pictured above).

At Basilisk you will find pods waiting to depart, a shop, a classical ballroom, and a funicular. Several different pod tours depart from this station for trips around Maebaleia (Satori), Nautilus, and Corsica,  By the dock to the North is a free Nemo sailboat dispenser.  Watch out for falling coconuts.

If you take any tour, you can get a notecard list of the pod stations, some basic information, and a Pod speed and distance HUD.

Some things to note: Not all 'pods' are 'pods', in fact, don't be surprised if your pod turns into a boat, or a train car, or a submarine, or even a hot air balloon!

Yavapod boat heads towards a pod of dolphins (or is it a shiver of sharks?).

I recommend joining the Pod Riders group and the Discord group to get the latest news. (You may get an automatic invite to the group and the Discord channel when you start your ride.)

You can buy your own local yavapod transport system or tour on the Marketplace, but it has to be set up on your own land.

You can find a lot of information about Yavanna and Yavapod tours on the web, and several people have made YouTube videos of their pod journeys. I enjoyed Feorie Frimon's YouTube video where she takes a pod tour while interviewing Yavanna.

Many yavavpods travel the rail lines.

Tips:

Sometimes when the surface route gets bumpy I find it helps to raise my viewpoint.

As mentioned in the notecard, there are times when a vehicle can go over a region crossing, but an avatar can't. In those cases, I just fly around and follow the pod until I can rejoin it.  If you can't find it, there is a web page that can direct you to the nearest pod.
