Moving Again -This Time to Maryport

My premium alts' rights to own land restored, I started playing GOH (Game of Homes) in Bellisseria to try to find a spot that had good access to sailable water. I used up all my daily tries when, looking for something else, I found a Mainland 1024 on sailable water that I could afford. Sold old place and moved again.

Visiting Some Volcanos in Second Life

The volcanos in Second Life are a lot easier to visit (and safer to visit) than those in real life. According to the Second Life Wiki, the moles who terraformed Second Life Mainland made an effort to create realistic volcanic islands. There also seems to be a brisk market for volcanos on the marketplace.

I am going to focus mainly on volcanos that are on the Mainland or easy to visit.

Let's start with a fumerole in the Sunrise Islands Waterway. Unfortunately, you cannot stand on it and the teleport will land you in the water. Just fly up. This was made by Silent Mole. I think perhaps the reason it is phantom is so that it will not be an obstacle to ocean travel.

Next is the volcano near Ichelus Village in Zebrasil. If you walk towards the base of the volcano, you will see a sign announcing the time for the next eruption. For a different view, you can go underwater during the eruption and watch the burning lava boulders bounce by.

Ichelus Volcano

One of my favorite volcanos is in Whimsy-Kaboom, a private area generously open to tourists. Here you can actually control the volcano.

Be careful what you choose!

One of the more famous volcanos on the Mainland is Mount Ga'al (or "G'al"). The edges of Mount Ga'al are unstable, so the best way to get a view of the volcano is by taking a balloon ride from the roof of the Mahulu info hub.  There is a tiny volcano display on the first floor.

Something I didn't know for a long time was that you can go inside Mount G'Al. You should be careful, though, because when there are trying times in Second Life residents try to propitiate the volcano by offering sacrifices..., individuals and sometimes whole groups

The Orwood Volcano, in the Sea of Fables, actually has two craters.

In Quat there is an extinct volcano whose cauldron is full of hot water. Unfortunately, a group has limited access to the very top, but you can cam up from the landing point.

There is an extinct volcano in Uli, which the parcel owners allow access to, and have even provided a nice area to sit for a while.

You can buy a big volcano from Felixx Shepherd at Da Vinci Gardens. When I went to look at the demo, it appears that the volcano includes undersea caves.

You can get a smaller volcano for free from the Arcadia Asylum Library and Freebie Center in Mieville Pond. It comes in a set called "Cannibal Island", but if you just want the volcano it is available on the Marketplace (Aleymart - everything free).

Want to learn more about volcanos? The Field Studies Centre at Bowness is an educational center with a lot of information on different geologic activity. Unfortunately, you can't teleport directly to the volcano, but it isn't hard to find.

Thanks to an article by Gemma Cleanslate in the SL Newser, I found out that there are also volcanos in Bellisseria. Here is one in the Methuselah Region.

Second Life Endowment for the Arts (SLEA) is now open

LEA is gone, SLEA is here. This huge project is a joint resident/Linden Lab endeavor. Like LEA, it is intended to provide support for virtual artists and a space for them to display their art.

SLEA is in partnership with Linden Labs, who generously provided grid space. The Central Hub, SLEA7, is a region containing a place where you can pick up a hud that will take you to the Art Regions surrounding SLEA7, and teleports to take you to other works.

The hud can be picked up at the area in the light blue circle. Don't just teleport to the middle of the region because you will end up in the water.

You will have to use the hud to get to the "Art Regions" surrounding SLEA7, and there are teleports to the local displays. You can walk from SLEA7 to The Bridge Project.

here is my avatar hovering over the thumb.

Art Regions currently open as of January 15, 2021.

SLEA1 (Viktor Savior) - Is in the theme "Winter Slavik Rebirth" - a snowy winter landscape surrounds structures housing galleries. The landscaping includes an ice-skating rink.

SLEA2 (Vaneeeesa Blaylock) has created a "Flash Fiction Island" you will have to reach by boat(provided). There are many different artists here and there will be 'flash fiction' contests based on the artists' works.

"Miss Monica Smith" display. For more information
see Vaneeesa Blaylock's blog on the right.

SLEA3 (Melodie Heart & Barry Richez) presents a serious/playful landscape whose message is about recycling and saving the earth. The surface area has animated paper sculptures, but there is a teleport to a spacestation and organic garden.

There are other regions, not yet ready.

The regional displays will change over time in increments of weeks or months. I do not know how long the art nearer the hub will be there.
